Tissue Paper Flowers

My granddaughter’s birthday party was this last weekend and I made lots of tissue paper flowers for decorations. For fun I used watercolor and watercolor pencil to paint one of the bouquets we made.

Here are some of the actual flowers. They are so festive.

Watercolor Collage

Happy Monday!  On Saturday, I painted with watercolor and created a variety of patterns then cut up pieces to make a floral sun. I enjoy this art making  method because of the many surprises of mixing the different patterns  and shapes.

More Layers

Art made while waiting for the plumber…a good distraction.

Exploring another layered drawing. The background is painted with watercolor. I then used a black pen to reveal the garden scene.

Layers of Color

Greetings…Today’s post is multi layers of color. I started with painting a pattern with watercolor. I then lightly drew the flower shape and painted a thin glaze of bright blue over the background. I added several layers of colored pencil texture so the flower color would pop. I’m happy with the results.

These two designs were made several years ago, similar technique.

Book Making

I love making art books and filling them with art. This little book was made with 3 separate sections of mixed-media paper and sewn to a stiff watercolor paper cover. I’ll be adding small watercolor paintings of California Wildflowers.

Florals

Good Morning…to get a boost for my morning warm up, I was looking through a magazine and came across a fabric design that inspired me to draw my own rendition. I used watercolor, watercolor pencil, brown tone graphic marker and the finale was posterization in Photoshop.

Sunflower

Good Morning…I tried a different approach to another one of my colorful watercolor backgrounds. After I painted the watercolor I used black gesso to paint the sunflower and vase. When the gesso was dry I used Derwent Inktense Blocks to add the color on the gesso which added interesting textures and transparent areas. I had to add three layers of paint over the black gesso. A fun experiment.

Have a happy weekend.
