Good Morning… For the past week, because of the fires in my community, we have not been able to leave our home but for picking up essentials at the market. My seven year old granddaughter and I have been playing lots of games and making art.
We decided to make our own collage papers. One thing we have an abundance of in our home is paper and lots of art supplies.
We painted on watercolor paper and then made photocopies for later use. We laughed a lot and inspired one another and thoroughly enjoyed each others company. Lasting fun memories through a difficult time.
Here is the beginning of some collage work.
What a beautiful way to celebrate life during such a difficult time. When your granddaughter remembers the horrible fires raging, she’ll have something precious to hold on to. She’s so blessed to have you as part of her life.

The respite from mayhem is nice, but it’s going to stay in our minds a long time. I’m glad you are safe, too. We are fine and grateful to friends and family who all offered a place to go if y.

Dear Sharon, trapped indoors with bedlam and destruction just outside your door. Your resolve to make art with what’s on hand and to fill your senses with the purity of your granddaughter, and art, occupying both of you with the sweeter parts of life…this is the story of a true hero. Thanks for sharing these moments with us.
