Sunrise through the trees

Good morning – Yesterday I was experimenting with a straw and blowing the watercolor to develop trees. I chose this one, because I like how the strands of paint made the shapes of branches. The 03 Micron black pen was used to sketch on top of the paint for more dimension and the background is watercolor pencil.

8″ x 6″ watercolor

GORGEOUS! I haven’t done the straw technique for a while! Thanks for the reminder. Perfect for doing trees! This looks almost like a tapestry with your beautiful detail work on top! Magnifico!!!

You always come up with such creative ideas! I had all but forgotten about the straw technique. I will have to share that with the grandkids. They will make a big mess, I’m sure, but I know they’ll have fun with it. Thanks again for all the inspiration you give.

Love it, Sharon, it´s perfect, the colors, the trees, the whole atmosphere, and beautiful light in it! I also love that you used a straw, I saw that technique once in a youtube tutorial for painting flowers. Now I know it´s great for painting trees too 😊 Your leaves are wonderful too, I find leaves quite hard to paint because of shadows and light everywhere… Have a creative weekend! 🌞
