Laundry Day

Good Morning- I was going through some of my fabric illustrations and I came across “Laundry Day”. This is a scene we don’t see much of now. Hanging the laundry was one of my jobs as a kid. I always loved the smell of the clothes when they were dry. I added the lettering in Photoshop.

Laundry a chore? No…
Plaids, prints, whites, socks and blue jeans.
Family memories.

I really like all your art, Sharon, but this one knocked my socks off (a useful cliché for laundry day). I liked the shirt upside down. And being how this is an old-fashioned scene, I really like that you made the laundress an older woman with an older hairdo, yet we do not see any other part of her. And as always, I love the different patterns. Really great art, my friend–

gorgeous! Another lovely art image, and one that makes us pause to think. I love the color combo; hints of the older woman, suggesting times gone past. I don’t mind laundry day…. its so much better than, cleaning day. LOL Here in Australia, most of us, do still hang our clothes out, on the lines! and really, why not…. the beats down and dries it all in 10 minutes for free. It took me awhile, to adjust to the crunchy feel of the towels against my skin though 🙂

Haha, yes the towels are a bit scratchy. I’m glad you can hang out your clothes to dry. I’m in So. California now so when I finally a get permanent home (I’m in an apartment) I will hang out my clothes again to dry.

These are absolutely lovely. Make them into cards to sell on your blog as they are as fresh looking as laundry on a breezy day and would make a lovely gift for us “old-fashion” girls who still hand wash and hang our “smells” out on the line.
